To be eligible for locum or permanent roles as an Occupational Health Technician, you’ll need:

  • Recognised Qualification: A formal qualification in Occupational Health, such as a Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health or Occupational Health Nursing, from an accredited institution.

  • Registration: Valid registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

  • Professional Experience: Previous experience in an occupational health setting is highly advantageous, especially in conducting medical surveillance, audiometry, spirometry, vision screening, and biological monitoring.

  • Up-to-Date Certifications: Valid certificates in audiometry, spirometry, and vision screening, in line with Department of Employment and Labour regulations.

  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in various environments.
