About the Counsellor Vacancy in Durban 

Ambition24hours Locums is urgently seeking a Registered Counsellor to support communities in Durban affected by widespread trauma and distress. Key Responsibilities 

  • Deliver immediate mental health interventions to individuals experiencing trauma. 

  • Lead group counselling sessions to address distress at a community level. 

  • Carry out psychological assessments to identify those at highest risk. 

  • Design and roll out structured psychosocial support programmes within affected areas. 

  • Work alongside medical teams to deliver integrated, holistic care. 

What You Will Need 

  • Registration: current registration as a Counsellor with the HPCSA. 

  • Training: certified Psychological First Aid (PFA) training. 

  • Experience: a track record of facilitating group counselling sessions. 

  • Skills: strong crisis intervention capabilities, with the ability to perform under pressure. 

  • Language: proficiency in isiZulu or other local languages is a significant advantage.
